The desire, if not the dream, of many people with diabetes is to see their blood sugars be classed as being like “normal” people with normal blood sugar levels or very close. For most diabetics, their diabetes plays a big role in their daily routine, even if it is only to have to perform a single morning blood sugar test to check their overnight blood sugar levels.

For those not familiar with the diabetic condition, diabetes is a serious incurable disease that is defined by higher than normal blood sugar levels circulating in the bloodstream. Sugar in the blood is quite normal and is there as a result of recently consumed food that provides nutrients to support life. The nutrients are categorized as proteins, carbohydrates and fats, together with vitamins, mineral and water. Most of the sugars in the blood are derived from the carbohydrate portion of the foods consumed. Some foods are carbohydrate dense other foods have little or no carbohydrates.

The sugars are the fuel used by the body’s cells to perform their various essential metabolic processes. The problems arise when the sugars in the bloodstream is unable to be taken in by the cells resulting in above normal blood sugar levels circulating throughout the body, if the condition persists it becomes the medical condition called diabetes.

There is no uncertainty, the diagnosis of diabetes is connected to a growing incidence of obesity and a general condition of being permanently overweight.

We can almost diagnose ourselves, if we eat too much food, make unhealthy food choices of sweet, rich, fat, salty, foods, and beverages and also avoid exercise, we may already have a conditions that doctors define as pre-diabetes, a condition that often leads to full diabetes.

Your quality of life may be at stake. If you fit the description in the opening paragraph of this article, take action. Delay no more and see your doctor soon.
